Easter Sunday is the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after March 21, so it falls between March 22 and April 25. We compute it with the Gregorian Easter formula (Gauss, Meeus). Lent starts on Ash Wednesday, 46 days before Easter.

Easter is always a Sunday, so it is not a federal holiday. Good Friday is not a federal holiday either, but the stock markets close and some states give it off.
